What Causes Mobile Network Not Available?

This problem is usually caused due to a lack of reception in your area which can get triggered due to a bad signal, bad coverage or SIM exhaustion.

Before moving to the fixes of the error, check that if the phone is roaming. To check that first of all-

  1. Open the app drawer of your smartphone and click on Settings.
  2. In the settings, find and tap on Mobile Networks.
  3. Then click on Data Roaming.

Also, check if the Airplane mode is turned off-

  1. Open the app drawer of your smartphone and click on Settings.
  2. Tap on ‘More Settings’.
  3. Click on ‘Flight Mode’ to check it.

How To fix “Mobile Network Not Available” in Android

If the phone is not Roaming and the Airplane Mode is turned off, then read the article further.


Note-This method can be used for every Android Device.

1. Open the app drawer of your smartphone and click on Settings.                                                                                              

2. Tap on the SIM cards & mobile networks

3. Select SIM cards settings.                                                                                                                                                      

4. Now open ‘Network Operators’ and select ‘Select Automatically’.                                                                                               

Check that if the issue is solved, if it is still present then proceed to method 2.


This issue sometimes also occurs due to a damaged battery. So try changing the battery of your device. If your problem gets solved after doing this then it means that you have a defected battery.

However, if the problem persists then, try the next method.


If the radio signal is not broadcasted correctly, then it can also cause this problem. So to solve it, follow the instructions given below-

  1. Open the ‘Phone’ app of your smartphone and dial *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer.                                                                                                     
  2. You will now get a pop up stating a tasting menu.                                                                                                              
  3. Select phone/device information.
  4. Afterward, Run Ping Test, and select GSM (PRL) from the drop-down list.                                                                                      
  5. Turn off the radio and restart the smartphone.                                                                                                                    


If the issue still persists, then check that if you have Software Updates. To check it, follow the steps below-

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on ‘About Device’.                                                                                                                                                     
  3. Tap on Software Updates and click on ‘Check for Updates’ and if there is an update for your phone do it.            

If the issue is still present, then there is one more fix that you can try.

  1. Open the app drawer of your smartphone and click on Settings.
  2. Scroll and find Backup and Reset and select it.                                                                                                                                
  3. Tap on Factory Data Reset in order to reset your android device.
