How to Fix Err_Connection_Refused Error in Chrome

There is no denying in the fact that Google Chrome is the most famous internet browser as almost everyone who has used a PC have tried using it. Partially because it has a simple and clean user interface and works very fast.

But just because it is popular does not mean that it does not have any flaws. One of the common error that shows up in Google Chrome is Err_Connection_Refused.

The error shows up when you try to open a certain website but there is a network problem. Sometimes this error is present for only particular websites but sometimes it shows up every time you open it.

Now, this error is in Google Chrome, and so it can occur not only in computers but smartphones as well. Fortunately, this error is fixable by using the methods that I am going to leave below.

Methods for solving Err_Connection_Refused error:

Method-1 By clearing browser Cache-

A number of users have stated that the error shows up because of Cache or Cookies because by removing it the error was solved hence you should do it as well. If you do not know how to delete Cache or Cookies, then follow the step by step instructions given below:-

  • Open Google Chrome on your device.
  • Click on ‘Menu’ which will be present on the top right corner of the screen.
  • A set of options will open, and in it find and click on ‘Settings’.
  • After that click on ‘Show Advanced Settings’.
  • Then you will see an option named ‘Content Settings’, which will be present under the Privacy Section, click on it.
  • You will see the pop-up box as shown below, so advance by clicking on ‘All Cookies and site data’.

Err_Connection_Refused

  • Then click on ‘Remove all‘ in order to delete all the cookies and Cache.

If the error still persists then follow the next method.

Method-2 By Resetting or Reinstalling the Browser

This issue sometimes also gets solved by resetting or reinstalling the browser. If you do not know as to how you can do so then follow the step by step instructions that I am going to leave below-

To Reset the Browser-

  • Open Google Chrome on your device.
  • Click on ‘Menu’ which will be present on the top right corner of the screen.
  • A set of options will open, and in it find and click on ‘Settings’.
  • After that click on ‘Show Advanced Settings’.
  • Find ‘Reset Settings’ and click on it.
  • A pop up will appear, so finalize by clicking on Reset.

Check if the problem is present if it still then proceeds to reinstall the browser. Follow the instructions given below-

To Reinstall the Browser-

  • Open Start Menu and search for ‘Control Panel’.
  • In the Control Panel, look for ‘Programs’.
  • Click on Uninstall a Program that will be present under the ‘Program’ heading.
  • You will then see a list of programs to select the program that you wish to uninstall and right click on it.
  • You will see an option to either ‘Change or Uninstall’ the program. Uninstall it.
  • Then to install it again download the setup from the internet and follow the Wizard installation.

After the installation is completed, check that if the error is still present. If it then follows the next method.

Method-3 By Flushing DNS settings

This issue also occurs when DNS mistakenly saves corrupted Cache. Therefore to fix this problem clear that cache by flushing DNS settings. In order to do so follow the instructions-

  • Open the Start Menu and search for ‘run’ and select the program to open the run window.
  • In the run window type ‘cmd’ and press enter.
  • Then in the Command Prompt type ipconfig /flushdns, this will flush all the DNS cache from the PC.

  • Restart and check that if the issue is still present if it then repeats the above process and opens the Command Prompt again.
  • In the Command Prompt, type netsh winsock reset catalog and press enter.

If the issue is still present then follow the last method.

Method-4 By using Chrome Cleanup Tool

Chrome clean up tool is a program using which you can remove software that might be causing the problem with your browser. You are only required to download the program and then run it to check if any issue is present.
